Lecture by Boris Mikhailov at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Palermo

89books is happy to announce its first public event – a lecture by the artist in residence Boris Mikhailov. Ukraine-born Mikhailov is one of the most famous living photographers, known for his meticulous and ruthless dissection of the Soviet and post-Soviet Era’s everyday reality, contained in bodies of work such as Unfinished Dissertation and Case History. Over the years, Mikhailov developed his signature style in photography, and as a result, has been awarded the Hasselblad Award and the Spectrum Prize for his achievements in photography. His work has been exhibited, among others, at MoMA (New-York), Tate Modern (London), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), Museo Madre (Naples).

On January 19th, 2018, at 5.00 pm, Mikhailov will give a lecture at the pressroom of the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Palermo. For the first time in Palermo, he will introduce his artistic practice and method, while elaborating on his most recent projects. A Q&A session will follow.
