Sicily, with its sea, the gravel and sandy beaches, the Mediterranean maquis, and horizons that open to infinity, suggesting distant worlds, and then, like a scar that interrupts the enchantment…houses on the shoreline, in any shape and form, skeletons of buildings that some diligent administrator finally attempted to demolish, or whose illegal construction is halted by an order, endure as lasting scars of memory, all surrounded by trash, illegal dumping. Traces left as a testimony to a lack of love for a landscape whose inhabitants seem to have lost their souls. A dystopian landscape that affects the life of people as a deep wound.
