The Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) estimates that Italian fauna (marine, terrestrial and freshwater) is made up of over 60,000 species, of which approximately 98% are invertebrates and the remainder of approximately 1,300 vertebrate species. However, this wealth of biodiversity is seriously threatened, numerous species and ecosystems risk being irremediably lost and climate change is introducing new species that are not endemic to our territory. This project, through a long process of observation and photographic exploration lasting about 15 years, intends to relate an imaginative representation of (fake) fauna with the contemporary Italian urban landscape. A research on the landscape evolution of banal and common places, on the social and cultural changes taking place in our country where attention to nature and its conservation appears to be a concept abandoned for a long time.
