Bruce Gilden was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1946. He is an American street photographer. He is best known for his candid close-up photographs of people on the streets of New York City, using a flashgun. He has had various books of his work published, has received the European Publishers Award for Photography and is a Guggenheim Fellow. Gilden has been a memeber of Magnum Photos since 1998. The photographic style of Bruce Gilden is defined by the dynamic accent of his pictures, his special graphic qualities, and his original and direct manner of shooting the faces of passers-by with a flash. Gilden’s powerful images in black and white and now in color have brought the Magnum photographer worldwide fame.
- Boris Mikhailov was born in Ukraine in 1938. His challenging and provocative work has documented human beings and everyday life in post-communist Eastern Europe, during and after the demise of the Soviet Union. Over the years, Mikhailov developed his signature style in photography, and as a result, has been awarded the Hasselblad Award and the Spectrum Prize for his achievements in photography. His work has been exhibited, among others, at MoMA (New-York), Tate Modern (London), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), Museo Madre (Naples). He lives and works between Berlin and Kharkov.
- Midge Wattles (b. 1990) is an American artist based in New York. Inspired by her interests in art history and the origins of images, she uses photography as a tool to trace a historical or personal lineage throughout each of her series. Her recent work explores the elements of light, time, and surface as both the material and subject of her images.
- Miron Zovnir (b.1953) is a German photographer and writer. He took up photography in the late 70’s in West Berlin and London and artistically embraced the anarchistic vision and rebellious spirit during the heydays of the punk movement in both cities. Already in his early black and white photographs, he explored the living environments and living conditions of people who consciously have chosen or been forced to lead a marginalized existence outside our society. When he moved to New York in 1980 and after first exhibitions of his photographs, also alongside the works of Robert Maplethorpe, Miron Zownir quickly became recognized as an uncompromising chronicler of the city’s subculture.
- Elise Wouters is an analogue photographer and writer from Belgium, based between London and Athens.Her visual work plays with the dynamics between the body and the landscape, unearthing the transgressive sensuousness of solitude. Her photography has been featured in Photo Vogue, Sola Journal and The Independent.
- Callum Royle is a photographer currently based in London.
